Have you ever wondered how Chinese characters work without an alphabetic system, and what each character represents? In this workshop, you will have a taste of the history and different styles of Chinese calligraphy and hear some interesting stories of pictograph. You will learn to find your own style with the established rules and framework. All materials and equipment will be provided and there will undoubtedly be some bubbles for those who want to banish the November blues. You will practice on rice paper and finish your artwork on beautiful red dragon and phoenix paper, ready for New Year or birthday celebrations and decorations. Beginners are welcome! Maggie is native Chinese from Hong Kong, with a master’s degree in Second Language Education and a postgraduate diploma in teaching. She started practising Chinese calligraphy in primary school.
