Class Details
Spend a relaxed day at the Birchwood studio with artist and tutor Laura Cullen, learning clay sculpture based on the much-loved subject of birds! Over the course of this workshop, you will learn basic ceramic sculptural techniques whilst making your own little bird sculpture out of earthenware clay, looking at a variety of references. You will learn how to best prepare a ceramic sculpture for kiln firing, and decorate your little bird with clay slip. The sculptures will be left at the Birchwood studio to be dried and fired, and your unique sculpture can be collected from the studio a few weeks later. This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners and is a great introduction for anyone considering clay as a new medium, but also welcomes more experienced sculptors looking to refine their skills. All materials are provided. Students are welcome to bring a packed lunch for the lunch break. Alternatively there are excellent local shops and cafes close by. Teas, coffees and biscuits available all day long.

We hope to avoid cancelling classes or workshops whenever possible but sometimes life happens and it's unavoidable. When we have cancelled you will be offered either a refund or the opportunity to transfer your booking to another class/time. We can't offer refunds if you can't make it to a class or workshop but if there are places available on another day we will do our best to fit you in.
