Monday 20th to Thursday 23rd July from 10am - 3.30pm
Class Details
Storyboard like a professional and learn how to turn your own story into a compelling action-packed graphic novel. Join Illustrator/ tutor Ryoko Tamura for four days of character-based drawing, where you’ll gain skills in cross-hatching, illustrating the figure and lettering in a variety of materials, including gouache, markers and fine liners. Take inspiration from Marvel, Manga, Disney, and master comic book and graphic novel artists such as Jack Kirby, Sana Takeda, Roy Lichtenstein, and Ryo herself. Study the techniques of other artists during a gallery trip, and improve your figure drawing by working from a live model. By the end of the week, you will have completed a giant collaborative strip to display around the studio walls, as well as your very own comic strip page. Classes run from 10am - 3.30pm with a break for lunch. All materials are included as well as snacks and drinks and admission to the gallery. Please bring your bus passes or change for the bus. Students should bring a packed lunch which (weather permitting) can be taken in Harrison Park.
