Autumn Term - Sketching the Landscape
Starts Wed 20 August, 10 - 12.30pm
Class Details
This class is all about sketching. Using a mix of photo reference and working on location, we’ll look at how to bring sketches to life using a variety of materials. Starting with simple pencil drawing, we will work on establishing composition, and mapping out the drawing, keeping a loose line. Then we’ll look at creating interest with tone and mark making. We’ll move on to bringing in watercolour, ink, gouache, and oil pastel. Although we’ll have a lot on hand we will bear in mind how much ( or how little!) is needed in your drawing. Artists referenced will be Van Gogh, Joan Eardley, and David Hockney, among others. All materials and refreshments are included in the course fee.
Cancellation Policy
We hope to avoid cancelling classes or workshops whenever possible but sometimes life happens and it's unavoidable. When we have cancelled you will be offered either a refund or the opportunity to transfer your booking to another class/time. We can't offer refunds if you can't make it to a class or workshop but if there are places available on another day we will do our best to fit you in. If you cancel 14 days or more before an event we will refund you if we are able to re-sell your place(s). We reserve the right to substitute the advertised tutor with someone of equal skill/expertise.
