Sculpting with Nature

Sculpture Day with Marcela Tršová on Sunday 23rd August from 10am - 3.30pm

Class Details

Sculpting with Nature Create expressive sculptures using natural and found materials! Join us for a unique and immersive workshop where nature becomes your creative toolkit. In this hands-on session, you’ll explore how to combine materials such as driftwood, tree roots, branches, shells, twigs, fibres, and grasses to build your own sculptural artwork. Through a mix of techniques - including simple carving, weaving, and construction methods - you’ll learn how to connect and assemble natural elements into striking 3D forms. This is an experimental and exploratory workshop where your ideas are encouraged to grow organically, with individual support from the tutor throughout the day. Perfect for beginners and those with experience alike, this workshop offers a relaxed and inspiring space to create something truly personal using the textures and shapes of the natural world. What to expect We begin the day by looking at artists who work with found natural materials, exploring different ways of assembling and transforming organic elements into sculptural pieces. You’ll then be introduced to a range of construction techniques and shown how to safely and effectively combine materials. After some quick sketching to visualise your ideas, you’ll begin building your sculpture - allowing the materials to guide your process as much as your initial design. Following a relaxed lunch break, you’ll continue developing and refining your work, with support available throughout. The day finishes with a friendly group sharing session, where everyone presents their finished pieces.
