Spring Term - Botanical Illustration

Starts Tuesday 14 January, 6.30 - 9pm Beginner & Improver Botanical Illustration

Class Details

'Art for the people and by the people’ was William Morris’s motivation as one of the leading Arts & Crafts exponents in the UK in the mid 1800s. We will do a deep dive into Morris’s textile designs and learn about his style, colour palettes and the presence of nature as subject matter. You’ll create your own design, inspired by the man himself. A great opportunity for inspiration and historical context to enhance your botanical illustration adventure! Following on from the Morris project the last four weeks will be concentrating on just one painting, inspired by Suzanne’s popular ‘Dandelion’. Fully embrace Suzanne’s process of careful ‘jigsaw’ drawing, delicate fine line work and watercolour painting. Produce just one, highly detailed image, working from a photo of either a Dandelion or Autumn Hawkbit. This will catapult your plant drawing skill to another level. All levels of ability most welcome along to this course tutored by Suzanne Gibson. Note, the studio is closed 11th of February so this is a 9 week course, finishing on 18 March.
