Watercolour Texture Ideas for Landscapes

Sat 11 May 10 - 4pm with Sheila Chapman

Class Details

Come along and have fun exploring different techniques for achieving texture and interest in your watercolour landscapes! We will warm up with small exercises exploring the use of salt, cling film, spatter, masking fluid and wet in wet techniques followed by some small landscape studies in three genres: “Trees & Bushes”, “Rocky Beaches” and “Flowery Meadows”, incorporating some texture ideas for livening up the spontaneity and expressiveness of your paintings. After lunch we will experiment with painting on different paper surfaces to explore the effect on the final piece, including a painted ground, gessoed paper, and handmade paper. You are welcome to bring some of your own photos to work from for this part of the day (though reference photos will also be available). No experience necessary - beginners welcome! Full instruction and all materials provided. Friendly, creative atmosphere. Tea/coffee and biscuits included morning and afternoon and maybe even a glass of something fizzy towards the end of the day.
