Winter Term - Sketching the Landscape
Wednesday, 10am - 12.30pm with Siri France
Class Details
This term in the sketching class we will be focusing on the built environment. We'll be looking at city and town streets, both here in Edinburgh, and in other parts of the world. What makes a good urban sketch? To help us answer this question we'll look at the work of several contemporary artists who take the city as inspiration, as well as works by old masters including Vermeer and Rembrandt. We'll consider the role of composition, line, edges, and texture, in creating atmosphere. Materials will include pencil, pen, pastel, and acrylic and gouache. All materials and refreshments are included. If the class isn't full you are welcome to come along for a taster class for £34 (subject to availability).
